Mark Spencer MP has welcomed plans from the Government that will see mandatory microchipping for cats introduced across the United Kingdom.
This is a move which will hopefully see more cats reunited with their owners and returned home safely.
Under the Government's proposals, all owners will have to ensure that:
Their pet is microchipped before they reach the age of 20 weeks
Their contact details are stored and kept up to date in a pet microchipping database.
Owners found not to have microchipped their cat will have 21 days to have one implanted, or may face a fine of up to £500.
